Ground Pioneer 4500 in the new book of wellknown journalist, treasurehunter and author of books for metaldetecting Reinhold Ostler "Handbuch fur Schatzsucher" Reinhold Ostler is known as the "Pionier of Treasure Hunting" in Germany. With his "Handbuch f?r Schatzsucher", he started a run for hidden treasures. In 1975 he got interested in treasure hunting after reading a book titled "Da liegt Gold". The chapter about Cocos Island near Costa Rica caused his treasure hunting virus. Six years later, he started his first expedition to Cocos Island with a 7 week search for the legendary treasures of Lima and of pirat Bonito. Other expeditions to Cocos Island and other locations followed... The author of a number of books about treasure hunting - including the classic "Das neue Handbuch fur Schatzsucher" as well as "Auf Schatzsuche in Deutschland: Schatze die noch zu finden sind", "Geheimnisvolle Schatzsuche: Legendare Schatze, die noch zu finden sind", "Handbuch f?r Unterwasser Schatzsucher", "Verschollene Schatze des Zweiten Weltkrieges" - Ostler has led a number of large search expeditions. Other expeditions to Cocos Island and other locations followed...

Ostler is also as close as it gets to being the official spokesman of treasure hunting in Germany. Ostler often registers his own finds with the authorities. For example a Celtic sword he found in 1984, is now on display in the Archaologische Staatssammlung in Munich. Two silver platters, which Ostler found in 1983, can be seen in Muhldorf local history museum.
