Built in Magnetometer for Discriminating Ferrous Metals.
Tired of digging trash! "The Discriminator" SDP-2014A is a new generation pulse induction metal detecting instrument, with discrimination, for locating large and middle sized targets (6" & larger) at greater depths. This pulse induction system is developed to retune automatically to ground mineralization changes and to the slowly changing external electromagnetic fields. The Discriminator has a built in Magnetometer to discriminate Ferrous metals, indicated by a red LED. Penetration is a unique combination of pulse induction technology, greater detection depths compared to any other metal detector sold on the market, with smooth stable operation through its automatic motion mode.
The search coil sends out short magnetic pulses. The magnetic field induces eddy currents in the metal objects to be detected. These currents generate a secondary electromagnetic field which flows outward from the target. A portion of this secondary field passes through the antenna winding. This signal is processed by the electronics and displayed by a ticking rate and meter response. The timely decoupling between the transmitting and receiving phases allows the Discriminator to work with greater transmitting power. The Discriminator automatically keeps its maximum sensitivity and detection depth for gold, silver and other highly conductive royal metal targets.
Now, five years later, SDP is with improved schematic.
The standart complete set includes:
- Electronic unit
- Square(basic) head 1/1m;
- 11” round searchcoil
- Adapter;
- Charge system;
- Antenna belt;
- Brief manual for exploitation;

Subject: Metal Detector SDP 2014A
Hi Norman:
I just moved to Colorado and will hopefully get to finally try this detector in the next 2 weeks for gold.
I did some interesting and non-scientific tests earlier today comparing this detector with the special 16" coil to a White's MXT E-Series detector using their large 8x14" DD coil DD1400. I cranked up both detectors to the point where they were getting unstable then turned them down just a little bit. The White's was in prospector mode.
SDP 2014A Results (everything is in inches regarding maximum detection):
1. Quarter 11" - 12"
2. Dime 10"
3. Pair of Pliers 20" - 22"
4. Thin Men's Gold Ring 9" - 10"
5. Coke Can 28" - 29"
6. 2-3 lbs of small hand tools 30"
7. Aluminum Case that shipped with the SDP 2014A 50"
White's:
1. Quarter 12" - 13"
2. Dime 11"
3. Pliers 16" - 17"
4. Thin Men's Gold Ring 10" - 11"
5. Coke Can 23"
6. 2-3 lbs of small hand tools 22" - 23"
7. Aluminum Case that shipped with the SDP 2014A 28"
I'm sure these results don't surprise you in the least.
In short, the White's has excellent discrimination abilities and slightly better detection rates on items like a small gold ring or a dime. If I was hunting a park or after small gold nuggets the White's is the best choice.
If you're not overly concerned about small items but after larger nuggets and caches there was no real competition to this pulse detector. I was surprised that it almost matched the White's detector on small items and completely dominated the scene when items started getting slightly larger than a quarter.
I was amazed it had almost double the range of the White's on the aluminum case and of course this is the range where you will find caches and larger metal items that regular VLF detectors simply cannot reach.
Thx,
****
